A walk on Campus

Funny story... As I mentioned we had two days of presentations with the US delegates and well our campus is rather large. This picture below for example is at the top of a large hill (not sure if I can say mountain) on campus, overall its got to be like 10 square miles or more not sure. See if you can get this link (http://www.csir.co.za/images/maps/K-7206_CSIR_Corporate-Electronic_Map_Pretoria_DevV3.pdf) as it will help with the visual portion of this story. So as I said I am in building 46F and on Wed. I had to go to building 14 which is all the way on the other side of campus. I was fortunate as my good friend and co-worker drove me over there.

It is a beautiful site from the top!

So on Thursday since I did not have a car ( I returned the rental) I decided to walk over there (Bldg 14) early enough (we started at 8:30 am) so I would not get all sweaty and have time to enjoy the walk. I came across some great trees and this one in particular had a beautiful flower coming out (see below). Then I had this funny feeling inside, as I realized I was not exactly sure where the building was and well I looked at my schedule and OOPS it was actually back at 46A right across from my building.

How could I have forgotten (I thought) and just chuckled. I had crossed over that long stretch over the hill and said OH WELL (It was 8am)!!! Then I recalled that there is a bus service on campus so I thought I would just wait for that at least to cross back over and then walk from there.

As I was waiting a car pulls up and a lady that also works on campus recognized me and asked me if I was with the delegation. She saw me earlier crossing over the hill and thought I was lost. When she saw me at the bus stop she was sure. I explained that I actually work at the CSIR and got my days mixed :) she was going to building 44 just a hop skip and a jump from me :) Very nice and I thanked her for the ride.

The drama ended and I made it with plenty of time (8:20am) to spare and gave a decent presentation shortly there after! I was not going to tell anyone but now that I think about it, this was too good not to!
