This is a funny story of how I met Gustavo...back in 1994 I met a person by the name of Ronald Zabala through an add in the paper...Okay okay I know what you thinking but it was not that kind of add! The world cup was coming to the US and I was trying to find tickets, this add said "selling tickets for Argentina" so I called as it was a local number and that is how Ronald and I met (he put the add in the paper as he was looking to buy tickets) and became good friends traveling to the next 4 world cups and sharing great times together...in between those trips I had met a childhod friend of his Gustavo Cuffia in Chicago when he cam to visit Ronald. We became friends and had been in touch ever since, I had not seen him however in 14 years so when he heard I was going to Barcelona he told me that I better visit or else...so naturally I had no other choice...I am sure glad I did!
He and his wife were more than gracious in letting us into their home and treating us like family! Also offering to have an asado for us and let us invite Sergio and Moira!
Cuffia on the internet....what a surprise...he runs various companies that are virtual and does so from his home...
Here is the view of Mataro which is just outside Barcelona (~ 30 km) from his balcony...it is a beautiful town, but accoring to him very boring..
This is Pepu their lovely dog, she reminded Steph and I so much of Sasha because of how well she was behaved and her style of interacting with us...we missed our guy a lot but she made it a bit easier and was a welcome addition to the trip.
So after a quick tour of the surronding area we came back to get the Asado ready as Sergio and Moira would soon be at the house....and Guffia did a great job!
Look at how delicious that is...it tasted even better!
Here we are sitting outside enjoying the farewell asado! I was so glad to make this side trip and see my old friend Gustavo. I am also glad he got to meet Steph and my friends Sergio and Moira. It was also a pleasure to meet his lovely wife Jorgelina!
Soon after we had to leave for the airport and say goodbye to Europe and the vacation we had, although it was only 4 days we certainly enjoyed it and had a wonderful time!
I told them all it was now time for them to come visit...we shall see :)
